Boy Scouts of America and Girl Scouts of America Summer Camps

The Boy Scouts of America (BSA) is a non-camp youth-serving organization that uses the outdoors to develop character, leadership, and a sense of community. Young adults and thousands of children participate in exciting outdoor adventures during the summer months. The BSA is committed in teaching life-long values. It offers a fun, educational, and exciting curriculum that prepares children for the future.

Cub Scouting, a family-oriented program of the BSA, is also available. Its aim is to build strong families by encouraging young people to live healthy, active lives. The programs encourage teamwork, personal achievement and self-improvement through fun, engaging activities. It includes activities like backpacking, hiking, camping, and hiking. It also encourages kids to use their imaginations, develop their skills, and discover new interests.

Venturing is a youth-led program that combines the fundamental values of the Scouting program with outdoor adventure. This program allows young adults to learn new skills, meet new friends, and develop real-world leadership. It offers long-term and short-term camping, backpacking, and backcountry trips. Participants have the opportunity to take part in extreme activities like rock climbing, kayaking, and other high-adventure pursuits throughout the program.

The BSA also offers a variety of camps to help scouts enjoy the great outdoors. Camp Tuckahoe (242-acres) is another facility that can be found on Stillwater Lake. Camp Circle X is Big Horn, also located in Tonner canyon, is another very popular facility.

The Boy Scouts of America's Paul Bunyan Scout Reservation covers 600 acres and borders the Huron National Forest. It is located in Texas Township, Southwest of Kalamazoo. It can also been found on M-33. This high-adventure camp is open to boys and girls from six to twelve years of age.


Camp Brorein, one of the oldest camps within the Boy Scouts of America was opened for the first time in 1923. The camp is surrounded by two lakes and many Live Oak trees. The camp also has a shooting range and indoor dining. Scouts love this camp.

In the 1930s and 1940s, a camp was operated by the Alexander Hamilton Council of Hudson County NJ. It was one of the first to offer Wood Badge training in America. In 1979, the council shut down the camp. 56 acres remaining were sold.

The Flaming Arch Scout Reservation was founded in 1972. It consists three clear spring-fed natural lakes. It is situated near Cypress Gardens. It is also famous for its pristine wilderness.

The S - F Scout Ranch is comprised of four camps. Sinquefield Scout Ranch covers 580 acre. It is a member to the Mic-O-Say Scout honor Society and has a fully-equipped metal shop and wood shop. It also offers scouting camps for ages ten through fourteen. It is the fourth camp in S - F.

Boy Scouts of America (BSA), has a responsibility to its scouts. This requires that the organization provide proper training and that their volunteer troop leaders be properly supervised. The Youth Protection Program is responsible for this responsibility.
